Senlis & Chantilly Castle

Visit Senlis, a medieval town in the heart of the Regional Natural Park “Oise-Pays de France,” with over 2000 years of architecture and history. The monarchs of the early French dynasties lived here, attracted by the proximity of the Chantilly forest. Senlis is renowned for its gothic cathedral and vast historical monuments. Stroll through the streets of Senlis and explore the market. Then lunch in the restaurant La Capitainerie, situated in the ancient kitchen of Vatel, the French chef famous for inventing Chantilly cream. This sweet, vanilla-flavored whipped cream was created for an extravagant banquet hosted in honor of Louis XIV by the great Condé in April 1671 at the Château de Chantilly. Lunch will be followed by a guided visit of the castle and Chantilly gardens. The Château de Chantilly, on a vast estate, is situated at the heart of one of the largest forests in the Paris region – Les Trois Forêts. It boasts the most beautiful museum of ancient painters after the Louvre, and a very rich library of rare and precious books. The grounds entice the wanderer to view French and English style gardens at their best.

Giverny - Claude Monet’s Home

48 kilometers from Paris lies the tiny village of Giverny, site of Claude Monet's home and gardens. Here the impressionist painter lived and worked from 1883 until his death in 1926. The house was bequeathed by his son to the Académie des Beaux Arts. Monet's collection of Japanese engravings is displayed here just as he arranged it. The magnificent gardens have been replanted as he designed them, creating "a picture painted with nature's own materials". The water garden that inspired his famous studies of water lilies, and the studio in which they were painted, are imbued with the presence of the painter, who was a founder and leader of the Impressionist movement. These fabulous gardens include the famous Japanese bridge and pond, whose surface is covered with a profusion of Lilies in spring. After the tour, enjoy lunch at Le Moulin de Fourges., Le Moulin de Fourges’ atmosphere combines romanticism and melancholy. From the first rays of sun, lunch is served on the terrace.

Eiffel Tower - The Iconic Image of Paris

Every visitor to Paris simply must see and climb the Eiffel Tower. Interestingly, though the Eiffel Tower is Paris's best known monument today, it was not so popular when it was completed in 1889 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. The Eiffel Tower is considered the symbol of Paris… and the skyline certainly would not be the same without it! Guests will visit all three levels.

Rodin Museum

The Musee Rodin opened in 1919 in the Hôtel Biron. It displays works by the French sculptor Auguste Rodin. One of his early works, "The Age of Bronze", created during his years in Belgium, looked so realistic that the sculptor was accused of surmoulage (taking plaster molds from a live model). Rodin worked nearly all his life on his major work, "The Gates of Hell", depicting scenes from Dante's, "Inferno", in high relief. The Musee Rodin opened 2 years after Rodin’s death and contains most of Rodin's significant creations, including, "The Thinker" and, "The Kiss".
